The heap of clothes and shoes in the hallway and the lack of convenient storage space are problems that can be solved by organizing a dressing room. How to do this, says Natalia Preobrazhenskaya, head of the interior design studio "Uyutnaya kvartira", leading expert of top interior publications.
Clothing
Some apartments allow redevelopment of the hallway, when a spacious wardrobe can be "drowned" in the wall by borrowing the space of the adjacent room. In some homes, you can carve out space for a separate dressing room or use a storage room as a dressing room.
The main plus of the dressing room in the hallway is convenience. Gathered on the street - everything is at hand.
At the same time, it is completely wrong, having come from the street, to immediately hide wet clothes in an unventilated room.
Therefore, even if you have a dressing room, provide a place for an open hanger in the hallway. Moreover, the hanger should not be roomy: four hooks are enough for the outerwear of an ordinary family. The more hooks - the more temptations to litter the hallway. Make a rule: only those clothes in which you came from the street hang on hooks. Keep the rest behind closed dressing room doors.
Swing doors will be doors or a compartment - it depends on the size of the hallway. Internal filling of the dressing room is shelves, bars, drawers, baskets. Fill the space as much as possible from floor to ceiling. Remember that there are no extra shelves.
If the dimensions of the hallway allow you to organize only a small dressing room, then the number of things in it should be kept small. Place clothes that you constantly use in the most visible and accessible place. It makes sense to hang things at once in sets - to save time and nerves in the morning. And no blouse on a blouse on the same hangers! Opening the dressing room, you should see all the relevant things and combinations.
Don't forget the mirror. It can be either inside the dressing room or hanging next to it. Another important nuance is additional lighting both in the area near the mirror and in the storage areas.
Footwear
Dirt and piles of shoes are a headache for many owners of many apartments. I recommend placing in the hallway a special tray for the shoes in which you just came from the street. This is especially true in the off-season.
In the clean shoe closet, equip practical multi-tiered racks. Boots with high tops, so that they do not lose their shape, can be hung on trouser hangers.
Pack all out of season shoes in boxes and store them on the upper shelves. Each box should be labeled for convenience. Or better - to paste over the photographs of the pairs stored in them.
Necessary little things
Keys, umbrella, dog leash can also be kept in the dressing room. Free up a convenient shelf for them or have special baskets. A good solution is a basket for each family member.
